Welcome to Ohio Randonneurs!

Summer is here. It's hot as Hades and even more humid. Great training weather for your next ultra ride.

What is a RANDONNEUR/RANDONNEUSE? - A person, male or female, that participates in the sport of randonneuring, long-distance bicycling, not as a race, but as a self regulated pace in order to complete a designated route within a designated period of time. More information about randonneuring can be found on the Randonneuring USA (RUSA) web space at http://rusa.org/. RUSA is a volunteer, not-for-profit organization whose primary goals are to promote randonneuring in the USA and to serve the USA's randonneuring community.

Ohio Randonneurs is an informal organization of bicycle riders dedicated to Randonneuring and organizes several long distance events each year in the Ohio area.

Newest Info:

ê 7/21/2010 The route for the August 28th 200k brevet is now posted on the cue sheet page. It's a relatively easy route, although Patti accused me of trying to kill her on Rocky Road during our recent scouting ride. Rocky has a 1/2 mile stretch that is 15-19% followed by a treacherous curvy downhill - brakes screaming all the way. Sounds like fun! Eh? We found another rail trail that runs west from Chillicothe and decided that using it makes up for the one bad hill. Total climbing for the route is only 2815 ft. We hope to see you for this ride. We're hosting a cookout at the house immediately following the ride. All Ohio Randonneur riders are welcome.

ê 6/17/2010 Congratulations to the 600k finishers. We had 12 successful riders and 7 that gave it their all. Rain, heat, humidity, hills and calamities all had a part in the demise of the DNFers. Hopefully we all learned a little bit about what to do better next time. I had a great time. I hope everyone else did too.

ê 6/9/2010 OK folks! Final revisions have been made to the 600k route thanks to feedback from our road warriors Dave Miller, Ned Williams and your back roads snooping RBA. The last changes affect the Killbuck Creek crossing in Wayne County south of Wooster, the approach to Somerset and the route from Mt Vernon to Reynoldsburg. These changes will keep us out of the water and off of some crappy roads. Sorry for the last minute changes, but you will appreciate it at 2AM on Sunday morning. The climbs works about to about 22,00 feet thanks to Washington County.

ê 5/29/2010 Dave Roderick will provide bag drop service to Motel 6 at New Phliadelphia. Thanks Dave for helping out our riders.

ê 5/28/2010 Elevation info has been added to the 600k Cue Sheet page. Total climbing is 24,193 feet per ridewithgps.com.

ê 5/25/2010 The June 12th 600k preliminary route info has been posted on the Cue Sheet page. Minor changes are probable as we still are checking out a few of the roads. Updates will be posted in the next 2 weeks.
